Unit 16 - Georges Bizet and Carmen

View the Opera

Viewing Option No. 1 - Naxos Video Library

There are two options for watching the entire opera of Carmen.  The second option I have posted below, with a linked video and linked libretto.  However, the first and best option is:

For those in Regina or have access to Naxos Video Library (check the digital services of your public library or university library) you can access a performance of Carmen, with subtitles through the Naxos Video Library.  Log into your local library and access the Naxos Video Library.  Once you've entered the site then search for "Carmen" or include the Catalogue ID number below.

The performance you want to access is:
Bizet, G.: Carmen (Sferisterio Opera Festival, 2008)
performance
   CatalogueID: 33614

Note: Click on the link and then after it loads click on the three dots in the bottom right corner and click on "Captions".  This should turn the subtitles on for you.  Please note, it may take 5 minutes (or longer) to load before it begins to stream, so be patient.  Use the expansion icons to play this full screen. Enjoy!!!

The second option for viewing Carmen is below.

Viewing Option No. 2:

The following is the entire opera of Carmen.  Unfortunately, there are not subtitles, so you will need to download the libretto and follow along that way.   The libretto is found to the right.  OR you may follow along with the libretto on this website:
